Truman Week 2021
Your Truman journey is about to begin! Wednesday, August 18 is the official start of Truman Week for all new students. Truman Week is a special time set aside to welcome you to the community and introduce you to the many aspects of being a successful student. The program is intentionally designed to create a smooth transition from your high school experience to college and from your family home to your Truman home for freshman students and distinguish your new experience at Truman from your time at the previous college or university from which you have transferred.
Many faculty, staff, and current students will be on hand to help you become comfortable with your new surroundings, understand what to expect from your academic experience, and learn about campus resources and policies. You will have the chance to meet and start making connections with other students at the many activities and events scheduled during the week to help you start feeling at home and begin to enjoy campus life.
Many students will be moving into the residence halls on Wednesday, therefore daytime activities on the schedule are flexible, so we have suggested some important things to do that will help you be prepared for the first day of class on Monday, August 23, which have not been formally scheduled into the week, so even those who are commuter students this first year will want to be on campus Wednesday to take care of some of these items.
Truman Week events officially begin for all students on Wednesday, August 18 at 7:00 p.m. There are three optional events that do require pre-registration:
1. The Moderna COVID vaccination event at the Student Health Center on Friday, August 20. Please check your personal Truman Week schedule so you avoid setting your appointment during your Self & Society Seminar, half of which are scheduled at 1:30 and the rest are scheduled at 2:30. Please generate your personal schedule first and then sign up for a vaccination time. The link below will be activiated once personal schedules can be generated.
2. Challenge yourself by taking on the ROTC Obstacle Course. The course will be available during most of the flexible time periods, but it's a popular activity and will fill up fast. The link is available below.
3. Bulldogs in action - our annual service event is a huge part of the College Cup Challenge and a huge hit with participants and community agencies. Registration will open on Wednesday morning prior to 10:30 am.
